The drive and the town
The route follows the D6 west past Karlovy Vary towards Cheb. Františkovy Lázně is six kilometres north of Cheb, close to the German border. A stop in Karlovy Vary on the way is easy to arrange; tell us when you book.
Františkovy Lázně is the smallest town of the West Bohemian spa triangle, with Karlovy Vary and Mariánské Lázně, and part of the UNESCO-listed Great Spa Towns of Europe. Founded in 1793 and named after Emperor Francis, it is a neat town of yellow classical buildings, parks and springs. The spa is best known for treating women’s health and fertility. Most guests come for a course of treatment with plenty of luggage, which is exactly when a car to the door is worth it.
