Munich from Prague is four hours’ drive each way, planned as a twelve-hour day. A private day trip costs from €370 for the car — your own driver, your departure time, and the car waiting for you while you are in the city.

What it costs

  • €370 — car, up to 4 passengers
  • €380 — minivan, up to 8 passengers
  • The price is for the whole car and the whole day, not per person
  • Fixed when we confirm the booking — waiting time is already in it

What is included

  • Pick-up at your hotel or apartment at the time you choose
  • The driver and the car for the full twelve hours
  • An English-speaking driver
  • All road charges, motorway vignettes, fuel and parking
  • Child seats and boosters — free
  • The return to Prague the same night

Read this before you book

Twelve hours with eight of them in the car leaves about four hours in Munich. That is one square, one beer hall and a walk — not the museums, not Nymphenburg, and not Neuschwanstein, which is another two hours beyond Munich.

We would rather tell you that now than have you find out at four in the afternoon. Two options work better if Munich matters to you:

  • Start at 5 or 6 in the morning and treat it as a fourteen-hour day — we will price the extra hours
  • Stay overnight. Munich plus the Bavarian castles over two days is a genuinely good trip, and we run it — ask us and we will quote it

Passports. This crosses into Germany. Both countries are in Schengen, so there is normally no border check, but carry your passport or ID card.

What you see in Munich

  • Marienplatz — the main square, with the neo-Gothic New Town Hall and its Glockenspiel, which performs at 11am and noon
  • The Frauenkirche — the twin onion-domed towers that no building in the old centre is allowed to overtop
  • The Hofbräuhaus — the beer hall everyone means when they say beer hall, from 1589
  • The Viktualienmarkt — the food market a minute from Marienplatz, and the easiest good lunch in the city
  • The Englischer Garten — bigger than Central Park, with surfers riding a standing wave on the Eisbach at the southern end all year round

If you are coming for Oktoberfest — it runs from late September into the first days of October, and the day is much longer because of the traffic. Tell us and we will plan around it.

A day trip is not the same as a transfer

If you are travelling on to Munich and staying, a one-way transfer from Prague to Munich is cheaper — the driver drops you and leaves.

The day trip keeps the car and the driver with you the whole time, and brings you home the same night.

Book a day trip

Tell us the date, your hotel, what time you would like to leave, and how many of you there are. If you would rather do Munich over two days, say so and we will quote that instead.

    Frequently asked questions

How long does the drive from Prague to Munich take?

About four hours each way. The standard day is twelve hours door to door.

How much is a private day trip to Munich?

From €370 for a car of up to four people, €380 for a minivan of up to eight. That is the whole car for the whole day, waiting included.

Is one day enough for Munich?

Honestly, it is tight — about four hours in the city. An early start or an overnight stay makes a much better trip, and we will price either.

Can we visit Neuschwanstein on the same day?

No. The castle is roughly two hours beyond Munich, so it needs its own trip or an overnight. Ask us about the two-day Munich and Bavarian castles trip.

    Do we need a passport?

Carry a passport or national ID card. Both countries are in Schengen so there is usually no check, but it can happen.
