Prague Airport Transfer and Taxi to the City Centre

Landing at Václav Havel Airport after a long flight, the last thing you want is to queue for a cab, argue about the meter or explain your hotel address in sign language. A pre-booked Prague airport transfer removes all of that: the driver is already waiting when you walk out with your luggage, the price is agreed before you fly, and it does not change if your flight is late or the road is jammed.

Below: what it costs, what is included, how a transfer compares with a street taxi and public transport, and how to book in two minutes.

Transfer, taxi or public transport — a quick comparison

Pre-booked transfer Taxi from the rank Public transport
Price Fixed, known before you fly Meter, surcharges, traffic Cheapest
Waiting Car is already there Queue at the rank To timetable
Luggage Driver helps, boot fits suitcases Pot luck Carry it yourself
With children Child seats free Usually none Awkward
Language English-speaking driver Often Czech only
At night Same price, 24/7 More expensive Night lines only

Prague’s airport public transport is genuinely cheap and well run — if you travel light and in daylight. With two suitcases, a pushchair and a change onto the metro, saving a few euros stops looking like a good deal.

How to get from Prague Airport to the city centre

Václav Havel Airport (PRG, the old Ruzyně) is about 17 km west of the centre. By car the trip takes 25–35 minutes, up to 50 in rush hour.

Terminals

  • Terminal 1 — flights outside the Schengen area (UK, UAE, Turkey, USA and others).
  • Terminal 2 — flights within the Schengen area.
  • Terminal 3 — private and charter aviation.

Terminals 1 and 2 are connected, a 5–7 minute walk apart.

How long the drive takes to specific places in the centre:

  • Wenceslas Square — 25–35 minutes
  • Old Town Square — 30–40 minutes
  • Prague Castle — 25–35 minutes
  • Vinohrady (Prague 2) — 25–35 minutes

Public transport

  • Trolleybus 59 — to Nádraží Veleslavín metro station (line A), about 15 minutes. It replaced the well-known bus 119 in March 2024, so older guidebooks are wrong about this.
  • Bus 100 — to Zličín (line B), about 18 minutes.
  • Bus 191 — a long route through the city, about 50 minutes, connects to lines A and B.
  • Airport Express (AE) — direct to the Main Station (Hlavní nádraží), every 30 minutes, separate ticket 100 CZK.
  • Night buses 907 and 910 — about 45 minutes to the centre.
  • Car sharing — available at the airport, but it needs app registration and is awkward with large luggage.

Buy PID tickets before boarding — from the machines (they take cards), at the counters or in the PID Lítačka app. From 1 January 2026 the basic fare is 39 CZK paper / 36 CZK in the app for 30 minutes, and 50 / 46 CZK for 90 minutes. With luggage, take the 90-minute ticket.

Taxi from the rank

Licensed operators work at the ranks outside both terminals. A ride to the centre normally comes to 600–800 CZK, though the total depends on traffic and your final address. Ride-hailing apps work too, but you have to find the pick-up point yourself — it is set away from the exit.

Private transfer

The driver meets you in the arrivals hall with a name sign, helps with the suitcases and takes you to the door of your hotel. The price is agreed in advance and does not change, even if the plane is delayed or the traffic stops.

Prague airport transfer prices

Route Price from
Prague Airport → hotel in Prague €35
Prague Airport → Karlovy Vary €110
Prague Airport → Dresden €150
Prague Airport → Vienna €370
Prague Airport → Berlin €350
Prague Airport → Munich Airport (MUC) €350
Prague Airport → Frankfurt am Main €400
Prague Airport → Cesky Krumlov €200
Prague → Kutna Hora €100
Prague → Karlstejn €50

The price is per car, not per passenger — for a family or a group that usually beats public transport outright. Fuel prices in the Czech Republic move, so the final figure is confirmed when you book; once confirmed, it is fixed.

Important: the airport parking fee is already included. That is the line item many services leave out and add at the end.

What the price includes

  • Meeting in the arrivals hall with a name sign
  • Help with luggage to the car
  • Flight tracking — if the plane is late, the driver waits
  • Waiting time after landing — included
  • Child seats and boosters — free (tell us the children’s ages when you book)
  • Airport parking fee
  • English-speaking driver
  • Delivery to the exact address, not «the nearest street»

No surcharges for night arrivals, luggage or a «difficult address» — the price in your confirmation is the price you pay.

How to book: four steps

  1. Send a request. Through the form on this page, by phone, or on WhatsApp, Viber or Telegram: +420 773 477 799. Email works too: cz@cztransfer.com.
  2. Give us the details: flight number, arrival date and time, number of passengers and suitcases, hotel address, child seats if you need them.
  3. Get a confirmation with the fixed price, the car and exactly where you will be met.
  4. Fly in. The driver tracks the flight and waits in the arrivals hall with a sign.

Book at least 24 hours ahead if you can — that way you still have a choice of cars. Last-minute requests are fine when something is free, but high season is not the time to test your luck.

Payment: cash to the driver in euros or Czech crowns, or prepay by Visa / MasterCard or PayPal — online payment adds the payment system’s fee.

Where the driver meets you

In the arrivals hall, just past the baggage reclaim exit, holding a sign with your name or your company’s. The exact meeting point comes with your confirmation — it differs for Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.

If your flight is delayed or cancelled, or you are moved to another aircraft, message us on WhatsApp. The driver already sees the flight status, but a message helps: it gives us time to move the schedule.

Cannot find the driver? Call +420 773 477 799 from the hall and we will sort it out in a minute. Do not walk off and take a taxi — your booked transfer is not going anywhere.

Not only from the airport

The same cars and the same terms cover:

  • Prague Airport → Karlovy Vary — the spa towns, door to door
  • Hotel → airport — the return trip, with time to spare for check-in
  • Intercity — Karlovy Vary, Marianske Lazne, Cesky Krumlov, Kutna Hora, Karlstejn
  • International — Vienna, Dresden, Berlin, Munich, Frankfurt
  • Day trips and excursions with an English-speaking guide

Frequently asked questions

How far in advance should I book?

Ideally 24 hours or more. In high season — summer, Christmas and New Year — three to five days. Last-minute requests are accepted when a car is free.

How long does the driver wait if my flight is delayed?

We track the flight by its number and move the pick-up time automatically. There is no surcharge for a delayed plane.

Can I pay by card or in Czech crowns?

Cash to the driver in euros or crowns, or prepay online by Visa, MasterCard or PayPal, with the payment system’s fee added.

Are child seats available?

Yes, free of charge. Give us the children’s ages and weights when booking so we fit the right seat or booster.

How long does it take from the airport to the centre of Prague?

25–35 minutes in normal traffic, up to 50 in rush hour. The distance is about 17 km.

How much is a taxi from Prague Airport to the city centre?

From the rank, usually 600–800 CZK depending on traffic and your address. A pre-booked transfer starts at €35 with the price fixed before you fly and airport parking included.

What if I cannot find the driver in the arrivals hall?

Call or message +420 773 477 799 (WhatsApp, Viber, Telegram). Please do not leave for a taxi before speaking to us.

Is a transfer more expensive than a taxi?

Over a short distance the difference is small, and the transfer often works out cheaper overall: the price is fixed, parking is included, and there are no night or luggage surcharges.

Can you take a large group?

Yes. Minibuses for 8+ passengers and coaches up to 56 seats. Group prices are quoted individually.

Do you work at night?

Yes, around the clock. There is no night tariff.

Can we stop on the way?

Yes — to change money, buy a SIM card or stop at a shop. Tell us in advance so we can allow the time.
