How the day runs
There is no fixed departure time — you say when. Most people leave between 8 and 9 in the morning, which puts you in Krumlov before the coach groups arrive and gives you the old town while it is still quiet.
Two hours south on the D3, then the last stretch through south Bohemian countryside. In Krumlov the driver drops you as close to the old town as cars are allowed and arranges where to meet you afterwards. You are free from that moment until you want to leave — five or six hours is the usual.
What you see in Český Krumlov
The whole old town is UNESCO World Heritage and has been since 1992. It sits inside a tight double loop of the Vltava, which is why the streets curl the way they do and why almost every corner opens onto water.
- The castle — the second largest in the country after Prague Castle, with the painted tower that appears on every photograph of the town
- The Baroque theatre — one of very few anywhere that still has its original stage machinery, scenery and costumes
- The bear moat, kept since the sixteenth century and still occupied
- The castle gardens and the terrace view down over the roofs
- The Egon Schiele Art Centrum — the painter spent time here in 1911
A day trip is not the same as a transfer
If you only need to get to Krumlov and stay there, a one-way transfer from Prague to Český Krumlov is the cheaper option — the driver drops you and leaves.
The day trip is the other thing: the car and the driver stay with you all day, wait while you walk around, and take you home. You are not watching a clock or a return timetable, and you can add a stop on the way if you want one.

Frequently asked questions
How long does the drive from Prague to Český Krumlov take?
About two hours each way, roughly 170 kilometres. The day is planned as twelve hours door to door.

From €230 for a car of up to four people, €260 for a minivan of up to eight. That is the price for the whole car for the whole day, waiting included.
Does the driver wait while we walk around?
Yes — that is the point of the day trip. You agree a meeting time and place, and the car is there.
Can we leave earlier or later than the usual time?
Yes. There is no fixed departure; you choose it when you book.
Is a guide included?
No. The driver is a driver, not a licensed guide — the price covers the car, the driving and the waiting. Krumlov’s old town is small and walkable without one, and castle tours can be joined on the spot.
