Prague to Český Krumlov Day Trip
Český Krumlov is a full day out from Prague — twelve hours, about two and a half hours’ drive each way. A private day trip costs from €230 for the car: your driver picks you up at your hotel at whatever time you choose, waits while you explore, and brings you back the same evening.

How the day runs
There is no fixed departure time — you say when. Most people leave between 8 and 9 in the morning, which puts you in Krumlov before the coach groups arrive and gives you the old town while it is still quiet.
Two and a half hours south on the D3, then the last stretch through south Bohemian countryside. In Krumlov the driver drops you as close to the old town as cars are allowed and arranges where to meet you afterwards. You are free from that moment until you want to leave — five or six hours is the usual.
What you see in Český Krumlov
The whole old town is UNESCO World Heritage and has been since 1992. It sits inside a tight double loop of the Vltava, which is why the streets curl the way they do and why almost every corner opens onto water.

Why not hire a car for the day?
For a round trip there is no one-way fee, so a hire car can look like the cheaper way to see Krumlov. But the old town is closed to ordinary traffic, so you leave the car in one of the paid car parks on the edge of town and walk in — and someone in your group still drives two and a half hours each way, the second half in the evening after a full day on cobbles.
Krumlov also has its own brewery, Eggenberg, right below the castle, and the Czech Republic has a zero blood-alcohol limit for drivers. With a driver, you are dropped as close to the old town as cars may go, collected where you finish, and nobody has to say no to a beer. Fuel, tolls and parking are already in the €230.
A day trip is not the same as a transfer
If you only need to get to Krumlov and stay there, a one-way transfer from Prague to Český Krumlov is the cheaper option — the driver drops you and leaves.
The day trip is the other thing: the car and the driver stay with you all day, wait while you walk around, and take you home. You are not watching a clock or a return timetable, and you can add a stop on the way if you want one.

Is a guide included?
No. The driver is a driver, not a licensed guide — the price covers the car, the driving and the waiting. Krumlov’s old town is small and walkable without one, and castle tours can be joined on the spot.
