Who this is for
Prague’s centre is walkable, and if you have the legs and the weather for it you may not need a car at all. This tour exists for the days when that is not true:
- You have one day and want to see the whole city rather than one quarter of it
- You are travelling with small children, older parents, or anyone who cannot manage the cobbles — and Prague’s cobbles are real
- It is January and raining, or August and 34 degrees
- You want Prague Castle without the climb up from the river
What you see
The usual route takes in the landmarks of the centre, with stops wherever you want to get out:
- The Powder Tower and the Municipal House beside it, where the old royal route into the city began
- Old Town Square — the astronomical clock, Týn Church, the Jan Hus monument
- Charles Bridge, which is walked rather than driven
- Prague Castle — the largest ancient castle complex in the world, with St. Vitus Cathedral inside it, and the car takes you up rather than the hill taking it out of you
- The Lesser Town below the castle, and the views back across the river
The route is not fixed. Tell the driver what you care about and what you have already seen, and the day bends around it.
What this is and is not
The driver is a driver, not a licensed guide. The price covers the car, the driving and the local knowledge that comes with it — where to stop, where to eat, which entrance has the shorter queue — not a guided commentary or entrance tickets.
