What to See in Prague This Autumn: Towers, Views and a River Cruise
Autumn is a good time for Prague: the summer crowds thin out, the trees on Petřín Hill turn gold, and the sun sets early enough to watch it from a tower before dinner. Here are six things worth doing in October and November, from the city’s best viewpoints to a short cruise under Charles Bridge, with this season’s opening hours and prices.

1. Petřín Lookout Tower: autumn colours from above
Petřínské sady 633, Malá Strana · October 9:00–18:00, November 10:00–18:00

Petřín Lookout Tower, built in 1891.
Prague’s «little Eiffel Tower» was built for the Jubilee Exhibition of 1891, modelled on the Eiffel Tower at a ratio of 1:5, and opened on 20 August that year. It is 58.70 metres high; 299 steps lead to the top, or you can take the lift. Because it stands on top of Petřín Hill, the view from the gallery reaches over the whole city, and in autumn the woods of Petřín below turn red and gold.
Tickets: 250 CZK, reduced 170 CZK (ages 6–15 and over 65), family 500 CZK.
Good to know: the Petřín funicular is currently out of service. Take tram 22 to Pohořelec and walk along the top of the hill, or walk up from Malá Strana through the gardens.
2. Mirror Maze on Petřín: the rainy-day option
Petřínské sady, Malá Strana · October and November 10:00–18:00
A few steps from the tower stands a small pavilion that also dates from the 1891 exhibition, where it was built for the Czech Tourist Club. It moved to Petřín the following year and has been a mirror maze since 1893. Inside are 35 ordinary and 14 distorting mirrors, the maze itself, a large diorama of Prague’s citizens defending Charles Bridge against the Swedes in 1648, and a final «hall of laughter». It is under cover, so it works on a wet autumn day, and children love it.
Tickets: 150 CZK, reduced 100 CZK, family 300 CZK; children under 5 free.
3. Old Town Hall: the astronomical clock and the tower at sunset
Staroměstské náměstí 1/3, Old Town · October and November daily 9:00–20:00

The Old Town Hall tower and the astronomical clock.
The Old Town Hall was founded in 1338, and its astronomical clock was built in 1410 by Mikuláš of Kadaň. The apostles appear in the windows above the clock every hour. A visit includes the tower gallery at 42 metres, with the best view of Old Town Square and Týn Church, the historic chapel and halls, and the Romanesque and Gothic vaults underneath. The building was badly damaged in the Prague Uprising of May 1945 and restored after the war.
Tickets: 350 CZK, reduced 230 CZK, family 750 CZK. The lift to the tower costs 100 CZK.
Autumn tip: the tower is open until 20:00, long after dark in October and November, so you can watch the sunset and the lights come on over the square. And in the first hour after opening, tickets are half price.
4. Lesser Town Bridge Tower: Charles Bridge from above
Karlův most, Malá Strana · October and November 10:00–18:00
At the Malá Strana end of Charles Bridge stand two towers joined by a gate from 1411: a smaller Romanesque one from the 12th century and a taller late-Gothic one built after 1464. From the gallery of the taller tower, 26 metres up, you look straight along Charles Bridge to the Old Town on one side and over the red roofs of Malá Strana to Prague Castle on the other.

Tickets: 200 CZK, reduced 130 CZK, family 400 CZK. Half price in the first hour after opening.
5. Prague Venice cruise: under Charles Bridge by boat
Pier at Křižovnické náměstí 3, Old Town · October–April daily 10:00–18:00, last departure 17:00
A 45-minute sightseeing cruise on the Vltava, known as Prague Venice. Boats leave roughly every half hour from the pier by the Old Town end of Charles Bridge. The ticket includes light refreshments on board and entry to the Charles Bridge Museum.

A sightseeing boat on the Vltava.
Tickets: 550 CZK, children aged 2–12 350 CZK.
Autumn tip: take a jacket. On the water it is noticeably colder than in the streets, and a late-afternoon boat gets the low autumn light on the bridge.
6. The Magic Ticket: nine towers for 990 CZK
If you plan to climb more than a couple of towers, the Magic Ticket (Kouzelná vstupenka) costs 990 CZK and lets you visit each of nine places once within 365 days:
- Petřín Lookout Tower
- Mirror Maze on Petřín
- St Nicholas Church bell tower
- Old Town Hall
- Old Town Bridge Tower
- Powder Tower
- Lesser Town Bridge Tower
- Novomlýnská water tower
- Astronomical Tower of the Clementinum with the Baroque Library
The first four on this page alone cost 950 CZK at full price, so the ticket pays for itself almost at once. You buy a voucher and exchange it at any of the nine places.
