Taxi and Transfer from Gdansk to Kaliningrad
Gdansk and Kaliningrad are 130–142 kilometres apart by road — an hour and a half of actual driving. Everything else is the border. A private transfer costs from €200 for the whole car: we collect you at Gdansk airport, the coach station or your hotel and deliver you to the door in Kaliningrad.

The drive and the border
The route runs through Elbląg to the Grzechotki–Mamonovo crossing and on to Kaliningrad. Pure driving time is about 1.5 to 2 hours, but plan for 3.5 to 5 hours in total: nobody can tell you in advance how long the border will take. Queues are longer in summer and at weekends.
Port of Gdansk
This is a real external border of the European Union, so bring:
- A valid passport
- A Schengen visa, if your nationality needs one to leave Poland
- A Russian visa, or another lawful basis for entering Russia
- A birth certificate for a child, and a notarised consent if the child travels without a parent
Our drivers run this road constantly and know the procedure at both posts. That does not shorten the queue, but it takes the questions off you: which lane, which papers, what has to be declared.
Coach or transfer
The coach is the cheapest way across: 120–190 złoty, roughly €30–47, running daily, 3.5 to 5 hours on paper. The trade-offs are a fixed departure time, a luggage limit and the same border queue as everyone else.
Do the arithmetic per group rather than per seat. Four coach tickets at €45 already come to €180, and you still need a taxi to the coach station in Gdansk and another one from the station in Kaliningrad. A transfer at €220 covers the whole journey, door to door, leaving when you want to leave.

Landing at night: no overnight stop in Gdansk
Low-cost airlines put planes down in Gdansk at one in the morning and at half past two. No coach leaves for Kaliningrad at that hour — departures are daytime, the first one from the airport at 13:05. What follows is the familiar routine: a taxi to a hotel, a night in a city you did not plan to see, another taxi to the coach station in the morning, then the wait. That is an extra day of travelling and the price of a hotel night for everyone in the party.
A transfer removes that leg entirely. We track your flight and meet you in the arrivals hall at the time the plane actually lands, so a delay costs you nothing — we wait on the aircraft, not on the timetable. From there you drive straight for the border and wake up in Kaliningrad rather than at Gdansk coach station.
Put the night arrival in your booking along with the flight number and the driver works around your flight from there. The drive is easier than it sounds at that hour: you can sleep in the car, child seats are free, and the driver wakes you before the border.
Travelling with a pet
Dogs, cats and birds travel in the car with you, and this is where a transfer has no real competition. Coach operators generally will not take animals on an international service, and flying a pet through a connection is its own saga of carrier dimensions, weight limits and airline surcharges.
What you need to bring: a carrier or crate sized for the animal, and its veterinary paperwork — a passport showing a rabies vaccination, plus a microchip. EU and Russian requirements differ and are revised from time to time, so check the current list with a vet before you travel. The border checks the documents, and that is the one part of the trip we cannot handle for you.
Tell us about the animal when you book: how many, what size, and what they will travel in. We will pick a car where the carrier actually fits and brief the driver in advance, so it is settled before pick-up rather than at the kerb.
