Transfer from Prague to Most
Most is 100 kilometres from Prague — about an hour and a half on the D8 and then the D7. A private transfer costs from €80 for the whole car: pick-up at your hotel at the time you choose, delivery to the door, and a price for the car rather than per passenger.

The drive
The road runs on the D8 as far as Lovosice and then west across the North Bohemian coal basin. An hour and a half is a figure with margin; there is less motorway on this route than on the run to Ústí.
Why people go to Most
Most has the strangest history of any Czech town: it was demolished for coal. A brown coal seam lay under the old centre, and in the 1960s the decision was taken to move the town to a new site and mine out the old one.
One building survived — the Gothic church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. In 1975 it was lifted, put on rails and moved 841 metres: 28 days, at one to three centimetres a minute. It is still the Guinness record for the heaviest object ever transported on wheels. The church stands on its new site with an exhibition inside about the move itself.
What else there is:
- Hněvín — a castle on the hill above the town; from the tower you can see the whole coal basin and the Ore Mountains
- Lake Most — the former Ležáky open pit, flooded between 2008 and 2014. It is now clean water where the coal used to be
- The Autodrom Most — a racing circuit hosting championship rounds and track days
- The racecourse — one of the largest in the country
- The Ore Mountains — they start immediately behind the town, with ski slopes at Klíny and Meziboří
Train, coach or car
- Train — about 1 hour 40 minutes with a change at Ústí, 150–200 CZK
- Coach — about 1 hour 30 minutes direct, cheaper than the train
- Private transfer — about an hour and a half, €80 per car. Straight to the address you need: the circuit for a track day, a hotel, or a works entrance. Public transport gets you to the bus station, and everything in Most is spread out from there
