Taxi or private transfer: the same car

Whether you call it a taxi or a private transfer, what you book is one car with a driver for your group, from your door in Berlin to the terminal in Prague. The difference from a street taxi is the price: it is fixed per car before you set off, with no meter running over 350 kilometres and no surcharge for luggage or an early start.

When the car beats the train

The direct EuroCity from Berlin Hauptbahnhof to Prague takes about four hours and is a pleasant ride down the Elbe valley. To make a flight, though, you add the trip to the station in Berlin, then the Airport Express bus from Prague’s main station to the airport, and a margin in case the train runs late. For one person travelling light the train is fine; with three or more passengers, luggage or an early flight, the car is simpler and often no dearer per head.

Option Time What it is really like
Train + bus 5+ hours EuroCity to Prague main station, then the Airport Express bus. Comfortable, but a fixed timetable and two transfers with luggage.
Coach 4–5 hours The cheapest way to Prague. Most arrive in the city, not at the airport, so you still cross Prague to your flight.
Taxi / private transfer ~4 hours From your door to the departures kerb, at whatever hour your flight needs. Priced per car.

Where we pick you up

At your hotel or private address anywhere in Berlin, from Mitte and Charlottenburg to Kreuzberg or Prenzlauer Berg. The driver comes to the door and takes the luggage. If you need a pick-up at Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) instead, ask us and we will quote that run separately.

The drive

From Berlin the car takes the A13 south through Brandenburg to Dresden, then the A17 to the Czech border and the D8 down through the České středohoří hills towards Prague. There is no regular border control, but carry your passport: you need it for the flight in any case. The airport lies on the north-western edge of Prague, on this side of the city, so the car never crosses the centre. A coffee stop on the way is part of the trip.

At the airport

Flights to Schengen countries leave from Terminal 2; flights to the UK, the US, Israel, the Gulf and other non-Schengen destinations from Terminal 1. Give us your flight number and the driver will stop at the right departures kerb and help you with the luggage.

When to leave Berlin. Allow four hours of driving, a short stop, and two hours at the airport for a Schengen flight or three for a long-haul one. A midday flight within Europe means leaving Berlin at about six in the morning.

What is included

A private car with an English-speaking driver for your group only. Pick-up at your door and help with luggage. Fuel, the Czech motorway vignette and all tolls; Germany charges no motorway toll for cars. Child seats on request at no charge: tell us the age and weight when you book.

The fare is fixed at booking: no meter, no surcharge for luggage or for an early start, no recalculation at the airport.

Frequently asked questions

How much is a taxi from Berlin to Prague Airport?

From 350 € per car, one way: economy 350 €, comfort class 370 €, premium 400 €, and a minibus for up to eight 420 €. The price is for the whole car, not per person, and it is fixed when we confirm the booking.

How long does the drive from Berlin to Prague Airport take?

About four hours for roughly 350 kilometres on the A13, the A17 and the Czech D8, plus a short stop on the way.

How early should I leave Berlin for my flight?

Add two hours at the airport for a flight within Schengen and three for a long-haul one to about four and a half hours on the road. Tell us the flight time and we will suggest a pick-up time.

Is there a direct train from Berlin to Prague Airport?

No. The EuroCity runs to Prague’s main station, and from there the Airport Express bus takes you to the terminals, so it is five hours or more in all.

Is there a border check between Germany and the Czech Republic?

Both countries are in Schengen, so there is no regular border control, though spot checks happen near the border. Keep your passport or ID card with you.

Can we stop in Dresden on the way?

Yes. Dresden lies about halfway, and an hour in its old town makes a good break. Tell us when you book so the stop fits the time before your flight.
