Coming from Berlin Brandenburg
Berlin Brandenburg is south-east of the city, which means it is already pointing the right way — leaving from the airport takes nothing off the four hours and saves you the trip into town. Send the flight number when you book: the driver watches the flight and waits in the arrivals hall with a board with your name, and waiting time for a delayed landing is free.
Train, coach or car
This is a well-served route and we are not going to pretend otherwise. The honest comparison:

For one or two people travelling light, the train is genuinely good and we will say so. The car earns its keep with three or more passengers, with luggage, with children, at hours when nothing runs, and when you want to stop in Dresden on the way.
The drive
We leave Berlin southwards on the A13 across Brandenburg, join the A17 at Dresden and drop over the ridge into the Czech Republic at Petrovice. On the Czech side the D8 runs down through the volcanic hills of the Ceske stredohori and into Prague from the north.
There is no border control — both countries are in the Schengen area — and German motorways carry no toll for cars, so the only vignette on this route is the Czech one, and it is ours.
Stops on the way
The road passes two places worth breaking the journey for. Neither costs extra; they simply lengthen the drive.
- Dresden — the Zwinger, the Frauenkirche and the Semperoper are twenty minutes off the motorway, and it is the natural halfway stop.
- Saxon Switzerland — the sandstone towers and the Bastei bridge, right beside the A17 before the border.
Arriving in Prague
We take you to the door of your hotel or apartment in any district, including the lanes of the old town where cars are otherwise restricted. If you are flying on, we drive to the right terminal at Vaclav Havel Airport instead — say so when you book.
