Transfer from Prague to Dětenice
Dětenice is 95 kilometres from Prague — about an hour and a quarter. A private transfer costs from €80 for the whole car: the driver takes you straight to the château and waits while you have dinner in the medieval tavern — and after that dinner you should not be driving anyway.

The drive
An hour and a quarter north-east: the D10 towards Mladá Boleslav, then an ordinary road towards Jičín. The last stretch runs through the fields and villages of Bohemian Paradise.
The return is usually late — the programme in the tavern finishes close to midnight. There is no public transport out of Dětenice at that hour, so a car with a driver here is not a luxury but the only arrangement that works.
Why people go to Dětenice
On paper Dětenice is a baroque château with rococo interiors and an English park. In practice people come for two things.
The medieval tavern. This is not a restaurant with themed decor but a full performance: smoking torches, actors in character, rough crockery, and food eaten with your hands — cutlery is withheld on principle. The programme, with music, fire and a staged brawl, runs all evening. Some people find it too much and some call it the best night of the trip; there is not usually a middle position.
The château brewery. The beer is made the old way in open vessels, unfiltered and unpasteurised. It is sold on the spot and hardly ever bottled.
We have been driving people here for years in other formats too: there is a noble dinner at Dětenice château and a group excursion with dinner. A private transfer differs in that you travel as your own party, on your own schedule.
What is nearby:
- Bohemian Paradise — the rock towns of Hrubá Skála and Prachov, and Trosky castle on its two volcanic plugs
- Jičín — 15 kilometres, with a fine baroque square
- Sychrov — the neo-Gothic Rohan château, 40 kilometres
