How to get from Dresden to Prague

There are three sensible options, and the right one depends on your luggage and your schedule.

How Time Worth knowing
EuroCity train along the Elbe about 2 h 15 min One of the most scenic rail routes in Europe, through the Elbe Sandstone Mountains. But you still have to reach the station at both ends, which is awkward with suitcases.
Coach about 2 hours The cheapest way. Fixed departures, limited luggage, and it arrives at a bus station rather than your hotel.
Private transfer about 2 hours Door to door, you choose the departure time, luggage is not a problem. More expensive, but nothing to connect with and nobody to wait for.

A transfer makes real sense when there are two or more of you, when you have luggage or children, or when you have an early flight out of Prague. Split between three or four people the difference against train tickets is small, and the day gets considerably simpler.

Where we pick you up in Dresden

Any address: a hotel in the Altstadt or Neustadt, the Hauptbahnhof, Dresden-Neustadt station, Dresden Airport (DRS), an apartment, the exhibition centre. The driver arrives early and waits — if you are running late, that is not a problem.

For airport pick-ups the driver meets you in arrivals with a name sign. We track the flight, so a delay simply moves the pick-up time and costs you nothing extra.

The drive

We leave Dresden southbound on the A17. The first half hour runs alongside the Elbe Sandstone Mountains — Saxon Switzerland, with its table rocks and gorges — then comes the border at Zinnwald, and the Czech D8 drops down through the volcanic hills of the Ceske stredohori towards Prague.

There is no border control; both countries are in the Schengen area. If you would like to stop on the way for coffee, a break or a photograph, just tell the driver.

Where we drop you in Prague

At your hotel, apartment or private address, in any district — including the Old Town, where access is restricted and most drivers will not go. Or directly at the right terminal of Vaclav Havel Airport Prague if you are flying on; the fare is the same.

For early flights we start at night. We work around the clock and there is no night surcharge.

What is included

A private car for your group only, meeting with a name sign, help with luggage, fuel, road tolls and the motorway vignettes of both countries, and parking at pick-up. Child seats on request at no charge — tell us the child’s age and weight when you book.

The fare is fixed at booking: no meter, no luggage surcharge, no recalculation at the end of the ride.

Booking

Write to cz@cztransfer.com or message +420 773 477 799 (Viber, WhatsApp, Telegram) with your Dresden pick-up address, the date and time, and where you need to be in Prague. We confirm the car and the price the same day.
