Taxi or private transfer: the same car

Whether you call it a taxi or a private transfer, what you book is one car with a driver for your group, from your door in Frankfurt to the terminal in Prague. The difference from a street taxi is the price: it is fixed per car before you set off, with no meter running over 510 kilometres and no surcharge for luggage.

Who books this

Mostly people whose trip ends in Frankfurt but whose flight leaves from Prague: a return ticket booked into Prague, a cheaper fare from Václav Havel, or a group with too much luggage for the train. There is no direct train; the rail journey to Prague takes six to seven hours with a change, usually in Nuremberg, and the airport is still a bus ride beyond the main station.

Option Time What it is really like
Train + bus 7–8 hours A change in Nuremberg, the train to Prague main station, then the Airport Express bus. A full day with luggage.
Coach 7+ hours Cheapest. Arrives in the city, not at the airport, and night departures make for a tired start to a flight.
Taxi / private transfer ~5.5 hours with a stop From your door to the departures kerb, on your own schedule. Priced per car, so it divides between everyone travelling.

Where we pick you up

At your hotel or private address anywhere in Frankfurt, including the banking district, Sachsenhausen and the hotels around the Messe. The driver comes to the door and takes the luggage. If you need a pick-up at Frankfurt Airport (FRA) instead, ask us and we will quote that run.

The drive

The car takes the A3 south-east through Würzburg to Nuremberg, then the A6 to the border at Waidhaus and Rozvadov, where the motorway continues as the Czech D5 past Plzeň. Václav Havel Airport sits on the western edge of Prague, right where the D5 comes in, so the car never crosses the city. Germany runs temporary checks at its land borders, so carry your passport on the road as well as for the flight. Germany does not toll private cars, so the Czech vignette is the only road charge, and it is included.

At the airport

Flights to Schengen countries leave from Terminal 2; flights to the UK, the US, Israel, the Gulf and other non-Schengen destinations from Terminal 1. Give us your flight number and the driver will stop at the right departures kerb and help you with the luggage.

When to leave Frankfurt. Allow five hours of driving, one or two short stops, and two hours at the airport for a Schengen flight or three for a long-haul one. An afternoon flight within Europe means leaving Frankfurt in the early morning.

What is included

A private car with an English-speaking driver for your group only. Pick-up at your door and help with luggage. Fuel and the Czech motorway vignette. Child seats on request at no charge: tell us the age and weight when you book.

The fare is fixed at booking: no meter, no surcharge for luggage, no recalculation at the airport.

Frequently asked questions

How much is a taxi from Frankfurt to Prague Airport?

From 350 € per car, one way, in economy, comfort or premium class, and 400 € for a minibus for up to eight. The price is for the whole car, not per person, and it is fixed when we confirm the booking.

How long does the drive from Frankfurt to Prague Airport take?

About five hours of driving for roughly 510 kilometres on the A3, the A6 and the Czech D5, plus one or two short stops.

How early should I leave Frankfurt for my flight?

Add two hours at the airport for a flight within Schengen and three for a long-haul one to about five and a half hours on the road. Tell us the flight time and we will suggest a pick-up time.

Is there a direct train from Frankfurt to Prague Airport?

No. There is no direct train even to Prague: you change, usually in Nuremberg, and then take the Airport Express bus from Prague’s main station, seven hours or more in all.

Are road tolls included?

Yes. Germany does not charge private cars for its motorways, and the Czech vignette is included in the price.

Can we stop on the way?

Yes. A coffee break is part of a five-hour drive, and lunch in Nuremberg or Plzeň is easy to add. Tell us when you book so the stop fits the time before your flight.
