Route from Frankfurt to Prague

The price is per car, not per person, and it is the same for the economy, comfort and premium classes on this route. The minibus for up to eight passengers is 400 €.
Landing at Frankfurt and going on to Prague
Frankfurt is a hub, and a lot of people arrive there on a long-haul flight with Prague still ahead of them. The onward leg is usually either a connection with a wait attached, or a night in a Frankfurt airport hotel because the last flight has gone.
Driving it takes about five hours and starts whenever you clear customs. Send us the flight number and the driver meets you in the arrivals hall with a board — we watch the flight, so a delay costs you nothing and you do not need to re-plan anything from the air.
If you were going to rent a car
Some people reach this page looking for a one-way car hire from Frankfurt to Prague. It is worth knowing what that involves before you book one.
Taking a German hire car into the Czech Republic is a cross-border rental, and German rental agreements very often restrict travel east — some companies forbid it outright on cheaper classes, and the ones that allow it want telling in advance. Leaving the car in Prague instead of bringing it back makes it an international one-way rental as well, and the one-way fee on that is usually the largest single line on the bill. And the Czech motorway toll is an electronic vignette you buy yourself before you cross; the German side has no toll for private cars, so nothing on your rental covers it.
Then you still drive the five hours, and you arrive with a car to park in a city where parking in the centre is restricted and expensive.
A transfer removes all of it. The fare is fixed at 350 € for the car before you set off, the vignette is ours, the driver does the five hours, and when you get out in Prague there is no car to look after.

The drive
We leave Frankfurt on the A3 heading south-east past Wurzburg to Nuremberg, then take the A6 east to the Czech border at Waidhaus. On the Czech side the D5 runs past Plzen and into Prague from the west.
There is no border control — both countries have been in the Schengen area since 2007 — so nothing happens at the frontier except the road signs changing language.
Stops on the way
Five hours is long enough that a break is welcome, and on a private transfer it can be somewhere worth stopping. None of these costs extra; they simply lengthen the drive.
- Wurzburg — the Residenz, a UNESCO baroque palace, an hour and a half out of Frankfurt.
- Bamberg — a UNESCO old town on the water, a short detour off the A3.
- Nuremberg — the walled old town and the castle, roughly halfway and the natural lunch stop.
- Plzen — the brewery that gave the world pilsner, forty minutes before Prague.
Arriving in Prague
We take you to the door of your hotel or apartment in any district, including the lanes of the old town where cars are otherwise restricted. If you are flying on, we drive to the right terminal at Vaclav Havel Airport instead — say so when you book.
