The drive from Prague
The route runs through Mladá Boleslav and Turnov, then on to Tanvald and up into the mountains. About two hours — of the three Krkonoše resorts Harrachov is the easiest to reach, and that is its strength: a day trip here genuinely works.

About the resort
Harrachov lies in the western Krkonoše at around 650 metres, with the skiing on Čertova hora. The season runs from December to April.
The ski jumps. Harrachov’s landmark is the Čerťák jumping complex, which includes a ski-flying hill — there are only a handful in the world. World Cup jumping events have been held here, and even out of season the hills are worth walking up to: from below they look nothing like they do on television.
Glass and beer. Harrachov has an old glassworks with a museum and a small brewery attached — a good programme for a non-skiing day, or for whoever came along for the company.
Coach or transfer
You can reach Harrachov by coach from Prague, but on a timetable and with luggage limits. With skis that is awkward, and in winter waiting at an interchange is cold work.
A transfer settles it: one car door to door, leaving at your time. For four people €104 is €26 each — cheaper than almost any other way of arriving with skis.
