The drive from Prague
The route runs on the D11 to Hradec Králové, then through Trutnov and up the Úpa valley. Two and a half hours in good conditions; allow more in winter, because the last stretch is mountain road.

About the resort
Pec pod Sněžkou lies at around 750 metres in the eastern Krkonoše, in a bowl that is almost closed on every side — which means less wind and snow that lies for a long time, often five or six months.
The skiing is spread across several slopes of varying difficulty, with floodlit evening runs, cross-country tracks, a snowboard fun park, ski schools for adults and children, snowtubing and sledging. The chairlift to the summit of Sněžka is a trip in its own right: the view takes in both the Czech and the Polish Sudetes. There are no pistes down from the top, so you ride the lift back as well.
Coach or transfer
There is no direct train to Pec. The coach from Prague means a change and a timetable, and from the stop to your hotel you walk — with skis and luggage, often uphill.
A transfer covers the whole chain: one car door to door, leaving when it suits you, everything in the boot. For four people €128 works out at €32 each.
