Taxi or private transfer: the same car

Whether you call it a taxi or a private transfer, what you book is one car with a driver for your group, from your door in Vienna to the terminal in Prague. The difference from a street taxi is the price: it is fixed per car before you set off, with no meter running over 330 kilometres and no surcharge for luggage or an early start.

When the car beats the train

The direct Railjet from Wien Hauptbahnhof reaches Prague’s main station in about four hours, roughly every two hours. To make a flight you add the trip to the station in Vienna, the Airport Express bus from Prague’s main station to the airport, and a margin in case the train is late. For one person travelling light the train works; with three or more passengers, luggage or an early flight, the car is simpler.

Option Time What it is really like
Train + bus 5+ hours Railjet to Prague main station, then the Airport Express bus. Comfortable, but two transfers with luggage and a timetable to fit.
Coach 4.5–5.5 hours Cheapest. Arrives in the city, not at the airport, so you still cross Prague to your flight.
Taxi / private transfer ~4 hours From your door to the departures kerb, at whatever hour your flight needs. Priced per car.

Where we pick you up

At your hotel or private address anywhere in Vienna, inside the Ring or in the outer districts. The driver comes to the door and takes the luggage. If you are coming straight from Vienna Airport (VIE), ask us and we will quote the airport-to-airport run.

The drive

From Vienna the car takes the A5 north through the Weinviertel to the border at Mikulov, then the Czech D52 past the Pálava hills to Brno and the D1 motorway across the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands to Prague. The car takes the ring road round the city to the airport on its north-western edge. There is no regular border control, but carry your passport: you need it for the flight anyway.

At the airport

Flights to Schengen countries leave from Terminal 2; flights to the UK, the US, Israel, the Gulf and other non-Schengen destinations from Terminal 1. Give us your flight number and the driver will stop at the right departures kerb and help you with the luggage.

When to leave Vienna. Allow four hours of driving, a short stop, and two hours at the airport for a Schengen flight or three for a long-haul one. A midday flight within Europe means leaving Vienna at about six in the morning.

What is included

A private car with an English-speaking driver for your group only. Pick-up at your door and help with luggage. Fuel, the Austrian and Czech motorway vignettes and all tolls. Child seats on request at no charge: tell us the age and weight when you book.

The fare is fixed at booking: no meter, no surcharge for luggage or for an early start, no recalculation at the airport.

Frequently asked questions

How much is a taxi from Vienna to Prague Airport?

370 € per car, one way. The price is for the whole car, not per person, and it is fixed when we confirm the booking. For a larger group, ask us about a minibus.

How long does the drive from Vienna to Prague Airport take?

About four hours for roughly 330 kilometres on the A5, the D52 and the D1 through Brno, plus a short stop on the way.

How early should I leave Vienna for my flight?

Add two hours at the airport for a flight within Schengen and three for a long-haul one to about four and a half hours on the road. Tell us the flight time and we will suggest a pick-up time.

Is there a direct train from Vienna to Prague Airport?

No. The Railjet runs to Prague’s main station, and from there the Airport Express bus takes you to the terminals, so it is five hours or more in all.

Are the motorway vignettes included?

Yes. Both the Austrian and the Czech vignettes and any tolls are in the price; nothing is added at the end of the trip.

Can we stop in Brno or Mikulov on the way?

Yes. A coffee in Brno or a short detour to the castle at Mikulov is easy to add. Tell us when you book so the stop fits the time before your flight.
