What it costs

  • €55 per car, one way, Prague to Kolín
  • The price is per car, not per person
  • Fixed when we confirm the booking
  • An eight-seat minivan, or a trip with the driver waiting, is quoted separately

What is included

  • Pick-up at your hotel, apartment or Prague Airport at the time you choose
  • Door-to-door delivery to your address in Kolín
  • An English-speaking driver
  • All road charges
  • Child seats and boosters — free
  • Luggage — two large suitcases plus hand luggage; more than that, ask for a minivan

The drive

Fifty minutes east on the D11 and a short slip road into the town. It is expressway almost the whole way, and the only delays are leaving Prague at rush hour.

Kolín sits next to Kutná Hora — 20 kilometres apart, and the two are easy to combine in a single day.

Why people go to Kolín

Kolín leads two lives. One is an old town above the Elbe with a Gothic core; the other is a major industrial hub.

  • St Bartholomew’s church — the Gothic chancel was built by Petr Parléř, the architect of St Vitus Cathedral and Charles Bridge in Prague. For a town this size that is a surprising pedigree
  • The Jewish quarter — a seventeenth-century synagogue and one of the oldest Jewish cemeteries in Bohemia, with stones dating from the fifteenth century
  • Kmochův Kolín — the June brass band festival named after František Kmoch, a composer born here. The town is unrecognisable during it
  • The weir on the Elbe and the embankments — the place for a walk
  • The Battle of Kolín, 1757 — where the Austrians defeated Frederick the Great for the first time; there is a monument on the field

A separate category of passenger is business travel: there is a large car plant outside Kolín, and we regularly drive specialists there from Prague Airport. Public transport to the works gate is awkward, and flights often land at night.

Train, coach or car

  • Train — about 50 minutes from Praha hlavní nádraží, 80–120 CZK, frequent. For one person travelling light it is a sensible option
  • Coach — about an hour, cheaper
  • Private transfer — about fifty minutes, €55 per car. It earns its place for a night arrival, a trip to a works site, or several of you with luggage

Book a transfer

Send us the date, the pick-up time and address, the number of passengers and suitcases, and your address in Kolín. For business travel, send the company name and the gate address; if you are flying in, the flight number.
