Transfer from Prague to Vienna
Prague and Vienna are the two halves of the same story — the Habsburg empire ran from one to the other for four hundred years — and almost everyone who visits central Europe does both. The road between them is 330 kilometres and takes about four hours, through South Moravia and across a border you will not notice.

The price is per car, not per person. Sedan from 350 €, comfort class from 370 €, minibus for up to eight from 460 €. Pick-up from Prague Airport instead of the city is quoted separately and is usually lower.
Train, coach or car
This is a well-served route and we are not going to pretend the train is bad — it is very good. Here is the honest comparison.

The part the train cannot do
The road to Vienna runs straight through the most interesting corner of Moravia, and a transfer lets you turn the transit into the day itself. None of these stops costs extra; they simply lengthen the drive.
Telc — a UNESCO town square of pastel Renaissance houses that looks like a stage set, about halfway.
Lednice and Valtice — an entire landscape laid out as a garden by the Liechtenstein family, with two chateaux, on the UNESCO list.
Mikulov — a wine town under a castle, right on the border, and the natural lunch stop.
Znojmo — medieval cellars, a rotunda from the eleventh century, and the other half of the Moravian wine country.
Two or three hours added to the drive turns a transfer into a private day trip that finishes in Vienna instead of back where it started. For a group of four this is usually cheaper than a guided excursion, and you choose where to stop.
The drive
We leave Prague on the D1 motorway heading south-east towards Brno, the second city of the Czech Republic, then turn south through the vineyards of South Moravia and cross into Austria near Mikulov. The last stretch runs down through the Weinviertel into Vienna from the north.
There is no border control — both countries have been in the Schengen area since 2007 — so nothing happens at the frontier except the road signs changing language.
Arriving in Vienna
We take you to the door of your hotel or apartment, in any district, including the pedestrian streets of the first district where taxis are restricted. If you are flying on, we drive to the correct terminal at Vienna International Airport instead — say so when you book, since it is fifteen kilometres the other side of the city.
For an early flight out of Vienna, we leave Prague at night. There is no night surcharge.
What is included
A private car with an English-speaking driver for your group only, one driver for the whole journey. Fuel, motorway tolls and the vignettes of both the Czech Republic and Austria. Help with luggage. Child seats on request at no charge — tell us the age and weight when you book.
The fare is fixed at booking: no meter, no surcharge for luggage, no recalculation on arrival.
